Families of deceased Lagos workers receive N585m insurance benefits

The Lagos State government said on Tuesday that it had paid over N585 million in insurance benefits to the families of deceased civil servants in the state.

The State Finance Commissioner, Dr. Rabiu Olowo revealed this during the presentation of insurance benefits to beneficiaries in Alausa, Ikeja.

Olowo, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry’s debt management office, Ms. Rukayat Sanusi, noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is passionate about the welfare of public servants.

He said, “The Lagos State Government has presented over N585 million in insurance benefits to 171 family members of deceased Lagos State Government Civil Service employees.

“This is an auspicious time among many we have experienced under the current administration. The Governor is concerned for the welfare of all members of the Lagos State Government workforce, including those of their beneficiaries and their families in general, as he recognizes that the labor of the state is the engine room and engine of all his policies. This is demonstrated by the large amount of money paid to insurance companies as a premium on an annual basis.

“My advice to the various recipients is to put this money to productive use and for the benefit of the children and other defendants of the deceased left behind.”
